up until several months ago, there was a cute little target store right down the road from my apartment. after christmas last year the target was demolished and a new target was being built in it's place--much larger and much nicer. recently, a banner was placed on the construction site stating that the store would have its grand opening on october 9th. "so far away..." i thought to myself upon seeing that; however, last night it hit me--october 9th is not that far away at all!! where has the summer gone!?!

i recently made another commitment for my already packed schedule--i am joining the national ski patrol and will work here at hidden valley ski. it's a fake snow hill; however, we have plenty of idiot teenagers that do stupid stunts in and out of the terrain park. i see this as an opportunity to better myself both as a skiier and as a first responder. it's been ages since i've had a formal first aid or cpr class--and these skills will be transferrable to my daily life.

woohoo :) First comment ...
You are correct, October is not to awfully far away. As far as summer being gone, I say good riddance. It's too darn hot. Moving 100 miles north didn't change the fact that summer in the midwest can be downright miserable. Oh well, it could be worse, I could be on the other side of the world on a piece of sand.
The Hidden Valley Ski things sounds cool. I've never been out there. Perhaps I can go sometime this winter and act like an idiot teenager. Might be good practice for me if I head out to Denver like I've been wanting to do. Just gotta finish this MCSE bullshizzit and I'm on my way.
Peace
Congrats on joining the national ski patrol! That's awesome. I read "a child called IT". Very upsetting. What was wrong with the mother? Did she go to a psychiatric ward or what?
if you read the next couple books you learn more about the mother.
she remained at home with her other children rotting away in her alcoholic world. very sad and tragic.
I can't believe she didn't get put in jail! I'll have to read the other books.
