...a high-five to myself...

...for the first time since before thanksgiving i got up before 7am and went running. it felt so incredible! i can't believe how long it's been since i enjoyed the early morning gym workout. the winter blues really hit me hard this year. i have wanted nothing to do with mornings...

anyway...i'm high-fiving myself, although i should probably wait to give myself kudos until i've managed to get up early every day for a few weeks. ;)

3-mile run this morning was pretty great. i fluctuated my speed a bit and finally kicked into a nice groove around 2.25 miles. unfortunantly, this is at the end of my run...the good news is that i'm continuing to like the distance -- i could have continued for another 3 miles easy this morning. also, i can honestly say that i feel much better when i run outside as opposed to the treadmill. i'll be glad when the weather allows for more runs in the park...

1/2 marathon is scheduled for april 9th. i am already registered and committed to the date. i'm getting pretty excited. all of my "long" runs are scheduled for the weekends...this weekend is only a 5-miler. shouldn't be bad at all. combined with all my running during the week and the skiing, i should be in some killer shape come april...i'm going to be buff for Easter!

Way to go, Ernie! I've got the Missouri Muck again. This cold one day, mild the next bullschmit, really messes with my sinuses and low and behold I'm back on the sudafed. The active ingrident gives me energy (my foot is tapping a feverish pace) but I still can't breath and figure I'd better not try to run again until I'm back to "normal" (health wise, not mental).

I'm not going to take another, but being that it's 12 hour, by the time I get to Columbia I'll be ready to consume copious amount of bud light and pizza. :)

Good for you! I have been loving my runs lately, and always prefer running outside to running on the treadmill unless it's really cold, which around here means less than 60 degrees. I am sure you have very little sympathy for me out there in the midwest ;-)

I am working with a personal trainer and after having me run for all my cardio for the past two weeks, she is now having me stop running for entire month of February! I don't know how I'm going to stand it on nice days like today, when the sun is out! When I think of all the times I've made excuses to not go running, actually being forbidden from doing it (so I don't plateau is my trainer's reasoning? yeah, I don't get it either) may just about kill me...

Anyway, keep up the good work, and enjoy those peaceful morning runs for me this month :-)

hey, we've decided audiobooks work for the 50-book challenge...what do you think? Mainly because I drive all the time, I could use the help of the audiobooks!

my trainer was the same way -- he's not big on the running thing. oh well...i think it takes someone who understands running to understand your need for it. i just run anyway. :)
