inspired by a fellow blogger, i have decided to undertake the "50 book challenge" for 2006.
what does this entail?
simply, i'm going to try to read 50 books by the end of 2006. this is going to be a very difficult task--when thinking about it, it's almost a book/week! i'm hoping this encourages me to stop watching so much television and get into the books more. i have a nice, big stack of books in my bedroom ready to go.
you can track my progress on the left -- i'll keep a list of the books and authors and link them to amazon's site if you become interested in a title. occasionally, i might do a small book report if i feel the book warrants it.
let the countdown begin!

that's a good idea! can it be any kind of book, meaning fiction or non-fiction? I've got a ton here at the house I've bought that I haven't ever read. I think I'm going to do that, too!
yes, any book counts.
good, we can have a reading fest together! :)
Do Cliff Notes count? I've got a couple of those from college and high school around. ;) You stick to your reading, I'll stick to my "boobtube". If you'd like to borrow some Neal Boortz, Sean Hannity, or Rush Limbaugh books you can. I'd just expect them to return in good (unburned and unmutilated) condition. Maybe "Weapons of Mass Distortion" by Bozell, or "The Meaning of Is" by Barr. And who can forget "Unfit For Command". "The Connection"? I've read most of those books, all were great. My right-wing shelf will stay pretty stable until 2008. Then I'll have some new ones to add I'm sure. :) Still need to get Ann Coulter's book.
I will finish "A Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffett on my way to Little Rock and back next month though.
If only reading would burn tons of calories, then I'd have dual motivation!
Good luck, on your quest...I really want to read more this year too. I love to, but seem to never have the time.
