powerhouse

...i know i've blogged a lot about my desire to lose weight and get in shape--well one more won't kill you!

...so, three weeks ago i made up my mind to finally do something drastic and get myself in gear for losing weight. my roommie had done very well with her weight loss by visiting the gym nutritionist. so, what the hay? i'll give it a shot too.

...2 weeks ago i had a meeting with charles at the gym. he's a very nice young man with an obvious drive to help people reach their goals. good start. so we talk a bit about why i want to lose weight and what my eating habits are like now. then he began to dictate what my schedule would be like for the next couple of weeks:

6:15 a.m -- wake up
6:45 a.m -- work out at the gym, 40 mins cardio
7:45 a.m -- protein shake
9:30 a.m -- 15 whole cashews
12:00 p.m -- lunch - grilled chicken salad with cucumbers and other vegetables (no corn or peas)
3:30 p.m -- 15 whole cashews OR protein shake OR fat free mozarella cheese stick
6:30 p.m -- dinner - 5-6 oz lean meat (chicken, steak, fish), vegetable (no corn/peas)
9:30 p.m -- protein shake

all in all...not a bad selection of food. substituted for lunch or dinner could be a wrap from subway or a salad from subway.

so i began the daily routine and found (surprisingly) that i wasn't hungry during the day. my body adapted so fast to the new diet that i began knowing what time it was just by the way my stomach felt. my tummy definitely let me know if i'd missed a snack time! a really nice thing about the whole plan is that charles allowed me one night per week to have a free dinner. no worries about what i ate as long as it wasn't fried. this was my night to stock up on bread, ice cream and other things that are no-no's on the plan.

so how did this all affect me in my 2 weeks? well, i weighed in with charles at 176. my weigh-in this morning was 168. 9 lbs if you'll allow me the liberty of not trying to figure in the difference of time of day.

one of the best things to come out of this is my new routine where i actually have a morning. i get home from the gym and have plenty of time to make my lunch, do some chores, and read my daily devotional before i head out the door for work.

speaking of work...it's time for me to get there.

here's my diet and excercise schedule

between 8-10 am.. wake up, eat cinnamon roll pop tart and wash it down with soem oxycontin and diet mountain dew

around 12- eat something shitty, drink more caffeinated(sp?) diet beverages (diet coke), take more pills

around 6:30- eat something that once roamed the earth...drink more diet coke, take more pills

between 7 and 11pm- swear at the Red Sox, go to bed once I calm down

If that isn't a recipe for good livin', I don't know what is.

Good job. Wish I could get the motivation, but hey, instead of having a soda I'm having a glass of green tea. MMMMMM I'll probably have a salad for supper tonight too. I bought a bag at schnucks last night after church. Need to leave room for that beer and hot dog on my first (and probably last if I can help it) trip to Busch Stadium. Hopefully I'll also be shoving italian food down my face over the weekend with someone too. :P

You keep losing those pounds, and I'll keep finding them...

great job erin. i love routines...meal routines are the best...some people think it is boring to eat the same thing all the time. i think it is wonderful to know the nutritional facts of the same food I eat all the time :).
